Mixed paper accounts for 70% of waste in the office which makes mixed paper recycling more important than ever. Here's a list of what can and cannot be placed in your mixed paper bin:

  • notebook paper (staples OK)
  • envelopes (plastic and hazy windows from envelopes are OK)
  • paper board (cereal and snack boxes)
  • magazines
  • newspaper
  • glossy paper
  • colored paper
  • No-Carbon Required (NCR) Paper
  • directories and catalogs
  • post-it notes w/out the sticky part
  • wax paper (compostable)
  • milk cartons (compostable)
  • paper cups and paper plates (compostable)
  • Napkins and Kleenex (compostable)
  • paperclips (please reuse them)
  • hardcover books (please call the work order desk (2-1655) for a special pickup)

For shredded paper, please use the big blue mixed paper carts. Please remove all non-paper materials before placing shredded paper in the carts.

If you're cleaning out or moving offices and going to be recycling a large quantity of mixed paper for a short period of time (2 weeks), please call the work order desk (752-1655) for office cleanout bins.
