Composting

A photo some compost
An example of composting in action.

Composting organic household and office waste into an useful soil end-product called compost. Ultimately this permits the return of needed organic matter and nutrients into the foodchain. Composting is practiced that can reduce significantly the amount of "green" waste going into burgeoning landfills.

Examples of compostable items around the office:

  • Food scraps
  • Coffee ground and filters
  • Paper Towels
  • Cornstalks, corn cobs
  • Gum
  • Wax lined paper and containers (e.g. coffee cups)
  • Napkins
  • Paper plates
  • Tea bags
  • Newspapers
