Minibin System: Dutton Hall

UC Davis employee using his minibin

Dutton Hall was a success! The Minibin System was implemented during the months of November and December 1999. The following departments at Dutton Hall are participating in the Minibin System: Financial Aid/Student Employment, Cashier’s Office, Upward Bound, Educational and Academic Outreach Program, Student Judicial Affairs, and Learning Skills Center.

To measure the effectiveness of the Minibin System at Dutton Hall, waste audits were conducted before and after the minibins were implemented. The staff of the R4 Recycling Program conducted waste audits of all departments in Dutton Hall, regardless of whether or not they were participating in the Minibin System. The waste collected from each department was calculated separately. Those numbers were then combined to calculate the total waste from Dutton Hall.

Dutton Hall reduced the total amount of waste coming out of the building by 54%! Thank you Dutton Hall tenants for taking time to help us reduce waste and recycle more. Check out the results of each department and review our Minibin Report.
