Thank Goodness for Staff 2006


The Chancellor greets a staff during the Thank Goodness for Staff picnic.

R4 Recycling achieved this by planning a meal that reduced amount of waste produced by Sodexho, the caterers. The menu did not include any items that had food wrappers. The menu consisted of veggie and turkey wraps, Asian noodle salad, cookies and fruit salad. R4 Recycling also provided compostable forks made of cornstarch and paper plates. All of the food, forks and plates could be composted. With the help of R4 staff and volunteers, attendees placed all of their food, plates and forks in compostable bags that were taken to Dixon and composted. All beverages were also either in soda cans or water bottles all of which could be recycled.

This event was very successful- R4 Recycling diverted 95.4% of the waste from the landfill. We hope to divert even more next year!
