This year’s Resource Recovery Drive was a great success. The drive started on June 6th and ended on June 15th. There were a total of 11 stations with two signs at each station. Students would donate their items at the stations, which were at all the dorms. R4 staff would pick up the donation items at each station and then take them to the R4 office. At the office, the staff would sort and store the items in boxes. In the end, the boxes would get stored in the storage container, which was rented from Mobile Storage Inc. The results from this year’s collection showed that there was a %115 increase in the amount of donations R4 accepted. The amount collected this year was 4471.6lbs versus last year’s 2081lbs. From the data collected, the most popular item donated was women’s clothes (33%), followed by miscellaneous (14%), and men’s clothes (12%). After the Resource Recovery Drive, there will be the Resource Recovery Exchange in the fall where people can exchange or buy items that were from the donations. The money from the exchange will go to the rent for the storage container.
