June 25 - June 27, 2006, representatives from UC Davis' R4 Recycling Program attended the UC/CSU/CCC Sustainability Conference at the University of California, Santa Barbara. There, both program manager, Lin King, and student employee, Christa Jones, accepted the award for Best Practices: Innovative Waste Reduction.

This award was based upon the development of the R4 Recycling Program since its beginning in 1990. Since then, R4 has created and developed a number of programs that have effectively reduced waste on the UC Davis campus. Some of these programs include waste audits and assessments, the Multibin, Zero Waste Event planning, and the Minibin System.

R4 Recycling feels honored and privileged to have won this award.
