On June 20, 2001, the City of Davis presented its Environmental Recognition Award to the R4 Recycling Program. The award was based upon R4's success in implementing many waste reduction programs, such as the Minibin system and the Spot-A-Mug program. Due to their efforts and the success of their programs, R4 Recycling was able to divert: 234.95 tons of cardboard, 517.36 tons of paper, 195.5 tons of glass, 29.1 tons of wood pallets, and 1,636.34 tons of straw and manure during the 2000 calendar year.
